Young Learners 1 to 1
When you teach a child 1 to 1, most activities that are intended for pair work will do, but in this case you have to be a partner for your student. Here are some activities you might find suitable for teaching your 1 to 1s.
Find the differences (two pictures with 3-7 differences)
- Completing a questionnaire

- Half crosswords
- Definitions games. For example: This animal is big and grey, it has got big ears and a long nose. Your partner obviously has to guess the animal. You do it first then let your student do the same.
- Guessing games. For example: Small objects or flash cards in a box. You take an object from the box.
What's this? Is it a rubber?
- Card games. For example: Snap, Dominoes (see Heinemann Children's Games, 100+ Ideas for children. (These books can be found at Tverskaya and Borovitskaya)
- Crosswords, word searches and other puzzles (This could be a useful web site: puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com. It can create a lot of puzzles for you.)
